Businesses to make breakthroughs with digital transformation

Digital transformation at businesses is considered an effective measure which can bring positive results in quality and productivity and significantly improve management and business methods.

Hai Duong province decided to develop towards green growth and digital transformation, with the development of a digital government, digital economy, and digital society being the decisive factor to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and competitiveness, according to Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Thang.

Thang, who is also Head of the provincial Steering Committee for Digital Transformation, made the remark at a workshop on digital transformation solutions for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Hai Duong on October 10.

He specified that Hai Duong was the first locality in Vietnam to issue a resolution on digital transformation as early as March 2021.

“Digital transformation at businesses is considered an effective measure in the course of developing digital economy and digital society, which can bring positive results in quality and productivity and significantly improve management and business methods,” said Thang.

Hai Duong has taken a lot of measures to create favorable conditions to attract investment and support businesses’ development.

The province also strongly improved the investment and business environment, especially the provincial competitive index (PCI), to remove bottlenecks in processing administrative procedures related to investment, production, and business.

In the coming time, Hai Duong will continue to carry out specific policies to support businesses aside from those issued by the Government, ministries, and central bodies, according to the provincial Party chief.

Director of the Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Cao Thang said his unit would coordinate with relevant bodies to give advice on the issuance of a plan to develop digital economy and digital society until 2025, with a vision to 2030.

“We will focus on deploying applications and digital platforms; building and sharing data; integrating modern technologies into management, production, and business to heighten business performance; and creating real results, improving customer experience, and building competitive advantages in the market for businesses,” said Thang.

Leaders and experts from the Department of Information and Communications, the Department of Industry and Trade, and FPT Corporation introduced participants in the workshop a number of digital transformation solutions for SMEs.

Digital transformation models and roadmaps, project implementation costs, human resources and the impact of digital transformation on production and business of enterprises in Hai Duong province were also tabled.

The event, themed “A smart start to exploit digital data and create breakthrough value for businesses”, was held to mark the National Digital Transformation Day 2023 (October 10) and Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day (October 13).

By early October 2023, Hai Duong was home to 266 digital technology enterprises, 187 digital platform companies, and 8,330 SMEs approaching or participating in programs assisting businesses in digital transformation. 99.58% of enterprises in the province pay taxes online. Digital economy made up about 14.36% of the province's GRDP in 2022.
