While the official day off for New Year is on January 1 in accordance with the Labor Code, as it would be a Monday, combining it with the weekends would make it a three-day holiday.

People in Vietnam will get their Tet break about a month after New Year. While the official schedule has not been finalized, it is expected to be a seven-day holiday.

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has provided two options for the Tet break: Either the break lasting from February 8 to 14, 2024, or from February 9 to 15. The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have agreed to the February 8-14 option.

Vietnam has five holidays a year, lasting a total of 11 days. If they fall on the weekend, there will be compensatory days off.

People working overtime or night shifts during the holiday get at least 300% of their wage. Foreigners in Vietnam get two extra days off: their own traditional new year and National Day holidays.
