Army Festival lures thousands of visitors to Kiep Bac
The Army Festival, one of a kind in Vietnam, is attractive to both locals and visitors from everywhere.
An army festival was majestically held on the Luc Dau river in front of Kiep Bac temple in Chi Linh city, Hai Duong province on October 1.
This is one of important contents of the annual Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival, which has become part of the national intangible cultural heritage.
It was restored and upgraded in 2006 as the only river festival in Vietnam.
This year, the festival gathered 500 disciples of Nhat Nam sect, 100 soldiers, hundreds of amateur actors, and lion and dragon dance teams to perform in traditional costumes on the riverbank.
Meanwhile, 32 splendidly-decorated “warships” of Kenh Giang fishermen from Dong Trieu, Quang Ninh province were ready for orders on the river.
Both forces smoothly coordinated with each other to complete performances of the festival under the cheers of thousands of locals and visitors who eagerly came from early morning.
The event aimed to remind everyone of the epical national defense, recreate the strength of ancestors in the Tran dynasty, recall Great Lord Tran Hung Dao, the soul of resistance wars against Yuan - Mongol invaders, and arouse patriotism, national pride, and the spirit of fighting foreign invaders among Vietnamese people today.
