Practical applications sought for Hai Duong digital transformation

Hai Duong province prioritizes the application of core technologies that can take shortcuts and make strong breakthroughs, thereby forming new management and business models and high-value products and services, according to Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Thang.
Thang made the remark at a conference on financial technology (fintech), artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and cloud computing for managers and policy makers co-organized by the provincial Department of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) at the Xu Dong Cultural Center in Hai Duong city on August 18.

Hai Duong has gradually building e-government towards three pillars of digital government, digital economy and digital society and applying AI and big data to have a part in the pillar development to switch from traditional to digital operation and administration, said Thang.
“Hai Duong has also continued to strongly improve the business and investment environment to attract large technology investors to the province,” Thang added.
The provincial Department of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics sign a memorandum of cooperation
Hai Duong ranked 13th out of 63 provinces and cities across Vietnam in digital transformation in 2022 (up one place over 2021), according to the National Committee on Digital Transformation.
The province came 15th in digital government, 7th in digital economy, 4th in digital society, and 4th in online public services among the 63 localities.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Thang said the conference was an opportunity to share ideas to further exploit great potential of digital technology for the provincial socio-economic development.
Some 600 participants in the event heard Professor Ngo Bao Chau, Scientific Director of the VIASM and professor of the US’s University of Chicago; Associate Professor Duc (David) Tran, Director of the Network Computing Laboratory of the US’s University of Massachusetts Boston; and other guests talked about the effect of fintech, AI, blockchain, and cloud computing in digital government, economy, and payment as well as the development and application of digital technology in some countries around the world.

All of them agreed to coordination with the provincial Department of Information and Communications to study and pilot the application of digital technology, such as Google’s AI products, in Hai Duong in the near future.
At the conference, the Department of Information and Communications and the VIASM signed a memorandum of cooperation on digital transformation in the 2023-2025 period.

It will create more opportunities to organize math promotion activities, support math education, and train talents in mathematics and science in general.
