Investors of the infrastructure of industrial parks (IP) in Hai Duong province have recently spent on machinery and equipment and set up teams for on-site fire prevention and fighting (FPF).

Fires and explosions not only pollute the environment but may also cause great economic losses for businesses.

A big fire broke out at Doosan Electro – Materials Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Dai An IP at around 4pm on April 25, 2021.

It took more than three hours for firefighters of the IP and the provincial Police to completely extinguish the fire.

Although there were no casualties, all property in the company’s 9,000 m2 workshop was burnt.

One month later, Fuji Seiko Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Phuc Dien IP used acid to clean cages containing nickel-plated products, causing chemical reactions, which released a lot of yellow-brown smoke into the environment.

The provincial People’s Committee required the enterprise to immediately dismantle its plating removal system outside workshop No. 1 and stop all hazardous chemical activities for two months at the risk of fires, explosions, and environmental pollution.

The company was also fined 344 million VND for eight violations.

It caused the same incident in June 2019.

In the face of this situation, all enterprises and IP investors have established grassroots FPF forces. IP investors also spent on a lot of modern fire prevention and fighting equipment.

These units annually organize courses to propagandize new knowledge of FPF and rescue and proactively work out timely and effective FPF plans.

There are 17 active businesses in Lai Vu IP, Kim Thanh district.

These enterprises and the IP investor always pay special attention to FPF to ensure the safety of their large number of employees and modern production lines.

Lai Vu IP One Member Co., Ltd. spent about 4 billion VND on two fire engines and many other modern devices in early 2020.

The company also established a FPF team of 20, divided into round-the-clock watches to proactively respond to any incidents.

“Fire hydrants are placed in the IP as designed with enough water for FPF. We also annually co-organize FPF and rescue drills with businesses in the IP. As a result, there have been no fires in the IP for years,” said a representative of Lai Vu IP.

There are an on-the-spot FPF team with about 25 members fully equipped with protective clothing and two fire engines in An Phat 1 IP though it has just been put into operation.

Besides, two FPF systems were built in the inner and outer of the IP, enabling proactive response to all fires and explosions.

Tan A Aluminum Co., Ltd. in Lai Vu IP has built an FPF system in accordance with regulations and organized training courses on FPF and rescue for all workers, according to Nguyen Thi Huong, Head of the company’s Administration and Human Resources Department.

“Our company monthly checks and maintains power and water systems and firefighting equipment, examines and sorts goods and materials to ensure a safe distance,” added Huong.

Many other enterprises in IPs have also proactively co-built FPF models with effective activities, such as the limited liability companies of Regent Garment Factory, Sumidenso Vietnam, Pacific Crystal Textiles, Hyundai Kefico Vietnam, and Brother Industries (Vietnam).
