The Hai Duong Department of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Thanh Ha district jointly welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Asia-Africa Market Department, five Japanese businesses, and a number of domestic enterprises to the district on June 15 to increase the import of fresh lychees to Japan.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan gave a brief overview of the origin, value, and consumption of Thanh Ha lychee.

The provincial vice chairman expected that the Japanese enterprises would closely coordinate with domestic ones to popularize and sell Hai Duong’s lychees in Japan.

The province always creates all favorable conditions for Japanese businesses to purchase and take lychees to their countries, Quan said.

He suggested the Japanese enterprises support Vietnamese ones with processing and preservation technology to ensure the quality of lychees upon arrival in Japan.

“Hai Duong province will have mechanisms and policies to assist Japanese businesses in processing agricultural products,” said Quan.

The Japanese market's demand for lychee is very large, said Deputy Director of the Asia-Africa Market Department Do Quoc Hung.

The unit will continue close coordination with Hai Duong province to export more lychees to Japan in the time to come, Hung said.

The industry and trade sector will work with Hai Duong to protect the brand and design, enhance lychee trading and popularization, and jointly expand products made from lychees instead of only exporting fresh ones.

The Japanese companies highly rated the quality of Thanh Ha lychee.

They would like to apply technology in the near future to turn fresh lychees into many other products like juice, wine, or cosmetics.

The enterprises also wished to have the opportunity to cooperate with Hai Duong province to make products from lychees in the coming time with the aim of making clean products from nature and preserving perennial fruit trees.

Some domestic businesses specializing in purchasing, processing, and exporting agricultural products believed that after the trip, their relationship and cooperation with the Japanese enterprises will further develop.

Earlier, the Japanese delegation surveyed a lychee growing area for export to Japan and visited Ameii Vietnam JSC.’s facility processing fresh lychees for export in Thanh Xa commune.
