Completion of Construction of Civil Package No.1 under National Highway 5 Major Repair Project

Completion the civil package No. 1 under the National Highway 5 Repair and Improvement Project, Phase 1

According to the Management Board of the National Highway 5 Repair and Improvement Project (Vietnam Infrastructure Development and Financial Investment Corporation - VIDIFI), after more than 2 months of active construction, the civil package No. 1 under Highway 5 Major Repair Project has been completed.

The Contractor has raked off and treated the damaged road surface at the intersection of km 47 + 460 and the route section from km 47 + 680 to km 48 + 040, smoothing and restoring the road surface with an asphalt treated foundation layer (ATB); Strengthening the road surface capacity with 2 layers of polymer asphalt concrete (lower layer is 7 cm thick, road surface layer is 6 cm thick) which is capable of resisting wheel ruts.

Contractors for civil package No. 2 and civil package No. 3 are expected to be selected in December 2020 and January 2021 respectively. The point of time for construction will be considered so as not to affect the traffic of vehicles during the Calendar New Year and Tan Suu Lunar New Year 2021. It is expected that these 2 civil packages will be completed in the second trimester of 2021.

The National Highway 5 Major Repair Project, Phase 1, includes 7 civil packages to overall repair the intersections, median strips, road surface structures and traffic safety systems, with a total investment of VND 840 billion. The entire Phase 1 is expected to be completed in 2021.
