A representative of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) presented VND38 billion to 10 provinces and cities, namely Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh city, Da Nang, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Dien Bien, Hung Yen, Lang Son, and Hai Duong, to buy Covid-19 vaccines on May 26 afternoon at the bank’s headquarters in Ha Noi.

These are localities with high population density and complicated epidemic developments.

The amount Vietcombank gave Hai Duong for vaccine purchase was VND3 billion.

Earlier, on May 21, at a ceremony to receive the banking sector’s support for vaccine purchase, Vietcombank offered VND25 billion to help the Ministry of Health buy vaccines.

This is an activity in response to the Prime Minister's guideline on socializing Covid-19 vaccination funds as well as following the State Bank’s direction, contributing to driving back the epidemic.

* Previously, though donations to the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund were yet to be officially mobilized, Hai Duong received a support of VND20 billion from An Phat Holdings.

In addition, the provincial authorities decided to transfer VND20 billion from the fund “All people support Covid-19 prevention and control” to the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund.

It is expected that the provincial Fatherland Front Committee will raise subscriptions for the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund from June 1.

Objects of mobilization are collectives, individuals, agencies, organizations, units, businesses, benefactors, and people from all walks of life.

Mobilized resources and the budget will be used to buy Covid-19 vaccines for immunization of people in the whole province to create community immunity, ensure the safety of people’s health in the face of the epidemic, and serve socio-economic development.
