Binh Giang farmer cultivates world's best rice

Pham Ngoc Lam in Chau Khe hamlet, Thuc Khang commune, Hai Duong province's Binh Giang district, is the first person in the district to cultivate ST25 rice variety on an area of 2 ha.
This variety was honored to be the best rice in the world in 2019.
ST25 is a fragrant rice variety with low productivity, only about 1.7 quintals/sao (360 m²), but its economic value is two times higher than that of common varieties.
ST25 rice grown by Lam's family in the spring-summer crop has been ordered for VND25,000/kg, bringing about more than VND100 million in profit to Lam.
In the next crop, Lam's family will expand the cultivation area to 5 ha.
