Four Hai Duong pupils win national prizes of International Economics Olympiad

The Organizing Board of the 2021 International Economics Olympiad (IEO) has announced 65 prize winners in Vietnam's final round.

Four pupils of Hai Duong's Nguyen Trai Senior High School for Gifted Pupils, namely Le Viet Duc Anh (11th math grader), Tran Van Hieu and Nguyen Dinh Hung (12th English graders), and Phan Trung Dung (11th informatics grader) snatched consolation prizes.

The IEO is annually held in the fields of economics and finance with the aim of strengthening the education of high school pupils around the world in economics and finance.

The contest is chaired by Prof. Eric Maskin, the winner of the 2007 Economic Nobel Prize.

This is the first year pupils of Nguyen Trai Senior High School for Gifted Pupils have taken part in the contest.

In the qualifying round, there were 37 pupils representing specialized classes in both 11th and 12th grades of Nguyen Trai Senior High School for Gifted Pupils. 15 pupils with the highest scores advanced to the final round. There, the contestants answered 20 multiple-choice and five essay questions in English in 235 minutes.
