Realizing a memorandum of understanding between Hai Duong and Vientiane provinces, in mid-July, Hai Duong province received the track and field team who came for training.
This time, Vientiane province sent five athletes, including two female ones, and one coach to Hai Duong.
The team was arranged to stay at ASEAN hotel to facilitate movement to the training ground at the Hai Duong Sport Training and Competition Center.
Chanthasone, an official of the Department of Education and Sports of Phonhong district cum team leader who manages the Lao athletes during the training course, is pleased with the thoughtful and scientific arrangement of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Hai Duong. They only need to walk from the hotel to the training ground. The hotel is clean and safe, and the food is quite tasty for Lao people.
“The training course in Hai Duong will be a beautiful memory in my sport career," said Chanthasone.
Meanwhile, athlete Beekorn Pongthadee was impressed by the affection of Hai Duong people for the Lao athletes. He said: “Since knowing that we are Lao, people at the hotel have been very open, wholeheartedly helped us and answered our questions.”
“At the training ground, Hai Duong athletes are also very close. Training with them is a very helpful experience, helping us improve our level so that when returning, we will be able to make high achievements at the National Sports Games.”

During the Vientiane team’ stay in Hai Duong, they are not only enjoying free accommodation and practice but also being professionally trained by experienced coach Le Van Chuc, who was arranged by the Hai Duong Sport Training and Competition Center.
The Vientiane athletes are arranged to practice twice a day, from 7 – 9 am and from 3 – 5 pm.
Hai Duong and Vientiane provinces have a close relationship. The two localities were twinned in 1984 and have had many exchanges and cooperation activities for mutual development.
A lot of students from Vientiane as well as other localities of Laos have been being given favorable conditions to study in Hai Duong.
The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Hai Duong has also signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation on culture, sports, and tourism with the Department of Information, Culture, and Tourism and the Department of Education and Sports of Vientiane.
The training of the athletes not only helps them improve their performance but also shows Hai Duong’s sincere concern and support for the brother province of Vientiane.
