Vientiane athletes improve after 1.5-month training in Hai Duong

A leader of the Hai Duong Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism presents a gift to the officials, coach, and athletes of Vientiane province

The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (DCST) held a closing ceremony on August 29 afternoon to bid farewell to a delegation of track-and-field officials, coach, and athletes from Vientiane province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, after 1.5 months of professional training in Hai Duong.

DCST Deputy Director Vu Khac Lich praised the training spirit and attitude of the Vientiane athletes and hoped that the coach and athletes would make high achievements at sport tournaments in Laos after the training.

Hai Duong sport is willing to impartially support Vientiane one within allowable conditions.

A deputy director of the Department of Education and Sports of Vientiane province was moved by the warm welcome of leaders of the Hai Duong provincial DCST.

During their time in Hai Duong, the coach and athletes received maximum support in terms of training conditions and equipment as well as materials and were trained in a good environment which was yet to be available in Vientiane. This showed sincere affection and special solidarity and friendship between the two twinned provinces.

The official looked forward to soon welcoming leaders and coaches of Hai Duong upon their visit to Vientiane.

The Vientiane delegation, including one coach and five athletes, was professionally trained at the Hai Duong Sport Training and Competition Center from July 15 to August 31.

The delegation was guided by a professional coach with abundant achievements, stayed at a hotel near the practice site, had exchanges with Hai Duong youth, etc.

During the training period, the delegation was provided with specialized athletic shoes and training clothes.

Upon arrival in Hai Duong, the athletes generally had low physical strength and got average grades in entrance tests.

During training, each athlete was offered a separate lesson plan and made remarkable progress.

This December, the athletes will compete in the Lao Games with hopes of making high achievements.

Hai Duong and Vientiane were twinned in 1984 and have had many exchanges and cooperation activities for mutual development.

The Hai Duong DCST has signed memoranda of understanding for cooperation on culture, sports, and tourism with the Department of Information, Culture, and Tourism and the Department of Education and Sports of Vientiane.
