Well performing people-to-people diplomacy, attracting development resources

Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Van Hieu speaks at the meeting with the Party Committee of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations

On behalf of standing members of the provincial Party Committee, Mr. Le Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Head of the provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, received and presided over a meeting with a delegation from the Party Committee of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations on the people-to-people diplomacy and activities of the provincial Union of Friendship Organizations on December 15 morning.

The delegates exchanged and discussed many issues related to tasks and difficulties in people-to-people activities and of the provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, the connection and attraction of foreign investment to Hai Duong and vice versa.

Members of the delegation also shared and clarified a number of proposals of Hai Duong delegates and suggested some coordination issues for the province to continue organizing foreign activities and court aid more effectively.

Speaking at the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Van Hieu thanked the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations for its attention to Hai Duong over the past time.

He wished that the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations would continue to support the province in well realizing Central bodies’ orientations for the people-to-people diplomacy; act as a bridge to share with countries in more difficult circumstances; strengthen the propaganda and introduction of the image and people of Vietnam as well as Hai Duong to international friends; attract more investment resources to make Hai Duong more and more thriving; etc.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Doanh, Member of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, acknowledged positive results in the province’s people-to-people activities.

He suggested that the province pay more attention to the staff of the provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, those in charge of people-to-people activities; concretize documents, regimes, policies, and regulations on reception of non-governmental funding; etc.

The union will continue to assist Hai Duong in effectively implementing people-to-people activities, popularizing the local image, practically serving the realization of the province’s socio-economic development and international integration goals, and facilitating the implementation of foreign non-governmental aid projects in the locality.

Over the past time, the provincial Union of Friendship Organizations has actively counseled the provincial authorities on maintaining and developing friendly cooperative relations and exchanges with twinned localities in other countries like Vientiane (Laos), Seine-Saint-Denis department and Montreuil commune (France), Suwon (South Korea), etc.

Through the past five years, the provincial Union of Friendship Organizations has worked with more than 10 foreign organizations, carried out over 90 projects with about 129 billion VND in aid disbursed, etc.
