Leaders of the Vietnam and provincial Red Cross Societies choose Tet gifts with disadvantaged people
The provincial Red Cross Society held the Tet (New Year) of Kindness program themed “HEINEKEN Cares – joint sharing to celebrate a happy Tet with the community” on December 23 morning at the provincial Labor and Culture House.
Chairwoman of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Bui Thi Hoa and Head of the provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Board Nguyen Van Phu attended the event.
The program included a charity market; free medical examination, health consultation, medicine, and haircut; and calligraphic word presentation.
Presenting calligraphic words to people in difficult circumstances
200 disadvantaged people in the province’s districts, provincial town, and cities were given 800,000 VND vouchers to buy goods at the charity market with a wide selection of necessities and practical goods like soup powder, vermicelli, cooking oil, sugar, confectionery, etc.
Participants in the program were entitled to blood pressure measuring, ear, nose, and throat examination, ultrasound, and medicine and first aid bag presentation.
Free haircut for the needy
Goods at the charity market were provided by the Ho Chi Minh city Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op). The program cost more than 300 million VND, sponsored by Heineken Vietnam Brewery Co., Ltd.
This is the first year the provincial Red Cross Society has implemented the Tet of Kindness movement, launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society in place of the movement “Tet for poor people and Agent Orange victims” that took place over the past years.
