Pioneer in supporting the poor

Member enterprises of the provincial Young Business Association make donations to the 2023 “Spring warmed with love” program launched by the association

At the 2022 summary conference that took place a few days ago, the 2023 “Spring warmed with love” program was launched by the Hai Duong Young Business Association and received enthusiastic responses from numerous member enterprises.

“Last Tet (Lunar New Year), our association raised more than 1.7 billion VND to present over 3,300 gifts to poor people,” said Nguyen Cong Hai, Chairman of the provincial Young Business Association.

“This year, though most member enterprises have encountered difficulties, support for the poor will not stop. This is our responsibility for the community.

“Hopefully, with the participation of authorities at all levels and the entire society, disadvantaged people will have a warm Tet.”

Hai Duong branch of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) – a typical example in social security work in the province – has also prepared hundreds of gifts to take care of poor people during Quy Mao Tet.

In just a few days, these gifts will be delivered to the hands of families in difficult circumstances, lonely elderly people, orphans, and people with disabilities, helping them have a happier Tet.

In response to the “Humane Tet” movement, Hai Duong Clean Water Trading JSC. has offered 70 gifts, 500,000 VND each, to poor households in the province through the provincial Red Cross Society.

“25 disadvantaged employees will be supported with 2 million VND/ person by our company to enjoy Tet,” said Nguyen Thanh Son, Deputy Director-general of the company.

“Orphans in the province who receive monthly support from our company will also be visited, encouraged, and presented with gifts this time.”

The “Spring warmed with love” program was continuously co-organized by the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Vietcombank Hai Duong, and the provincial Radio and Television Station from 2012 to 2021.

Over the 10 years, 150,000 gifts were received and handed over to poor people with a total budget of 120 billion VND (mostly donated by businesses).

The business community has made many important contributions, having a part in helping Hai Duong well implement the emulation movement “The whole country joins hands for the poor - leaving no one behind.” Any movement and campaign launched by Fatherland Front Committees at all levels received responses from enterprises.

In the 2017 – 2022 period, Funds for the Poor at all levels in the province raised nearly 54.5 billion VND. Apart from the amount, all-level Fundraising Boards also mobilized a lot of businesses, agencies, units, and benefactors to directly support poor households with nearly 100 billion VND.

The participation of the entire society in general and businesses in particular assisted 1,109 poor families with “great unity” house construction, nearly 20,000 others with production, medical examination and treatment, etc.

Enterprises’ support for the poor has contributed to the Party and State’s good implementation of the national target program on poverty reduction, promoting the industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas. 

To the majority of poor households, the attention and support of businesses and the community have helped them develop economy and stabilize their lives.
