The majority of carrots grown in other localities are transported to Duc Chinh commune for preliminary processing and packaging before export
Carrot processing and exporting facilities in Duc Chinh commune, Cam Giang district, have so far exported more than 40,000 tons of carrots, reported the commune Agricultural Service Cooperative.
The carrots were shipped to traditional markets like the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, and Laos and several Middle East countries.
Meanwhile, around 20,000 tons of carrots were domestically consumed.
Duc Chinh commune is currently the largest carrot "factory" in Hai Duong province.
Carrots grown in Nam Sach district, Chi Linh city, and neighboring provinces such as Bac Ninh and Thai Binh are transported there for preliminary processing before export.
Almost all carrot growing areas rented by Duc Chinh people in other provinces and cities (approximately 1,000 ha) and more than 1,200 ha of carrots in Hai Duong have basically been harvested.
Carrot price at the end of the crop remains stable at 5,000 - 7,000 VND/kg, equal to the beginning of the crop.
Farmers made a profit of 3 - 4 million VND/ 360 m² of carrots, equivalent to the previous year.
It is expected that by the end of March, the remaining carrot area (a few dozen hectares in Duc Chinh commune) will have been harvested.
