The People’s Committee of Hai Duong city held a conference on April 6 to introduce the Bach Dang pedestrian and night market zone to press agencies and travel companies.

The pedestrian and night market zone is planned to open on April 28 evening.

It will cover the entire Thong Nhat Square, half of Bach Dang street, the riverside half of Bui Thi Xuan street, Chuong Duong street, and Hong Quang bridge.

The zone will be divided into four sections named after four supernatural creatures: dragon, unicorn, turtle, and phoenix and symbolizing outstanding celebrities associated with Hai Duong.

The dragon section is reminiscent of famous general Tran Hung Dao; the unicorn section, politician Nguyen Trai; the turtle section, Patriarchs Phap Loa and Huyen Quang; and the phoenix section, eternal teacher Chu Van An.

These sections will have 15, 12, 8, and 10 booths, respectively, selling typical regional products and OCOP ones.

Special cultural and artistic activities will be regularly organized in the Bach Dang pedestrian and night market zone.

Two large-scale artistic shows will be staged at Thong Nhat Square every month.

There will be two places for street, contemporary, and folk art performances and one for outdoor activities in the interwoven area of dragon and lion sections.

Experience activities, folk games, and a reading spot will be arranged in the turtle section.

One artistic point is planned for the phoenix section.

LED lights will be turned on artistically around the Bach Dang river to form colorful space.

Lotus flowers will also be erected on the river surface and lit by the lights to create a highlight in the middle of the river.

The city authorities will install three free WIFI transmitters and power-points in the pedestrian and night market zone for the booths and for visitors to charge their phones.

Five public toilets will also be built in the zone.

This is a zero-budget project, emphasized Chairman of the city People's Committee Tran Ho Dang.

“All funds for the project came from socialization,” said Dang.

T&T Group is the main sponsor, among some other businesses.

When T&T Group’s trade center comes into operation, there will be one more large shopping venue for locals and visitors.
