IELTS certificate fever

IELTS certificates are used more widerly compared to other international foreign language certificates like TOEIC and TOEFL.

Vietnamese students having an IELTS certificate are exempted from the English test for senior high school (SHS) graduation, get extra points for their university entrance exam, or have more opportunities to study abroad.

Some universities also use this certificate for enrolment.

These are the reasons for many Hai Duong students to learn English at high costs for an IELTS certificate.

Do Huy Hoang, a 10th grader of Thanh Mien 1 SHS, manages to go to Hai Duong city twice a week to attend an IELTS course as a number of foreign schools only accept international students having an IELTS certificate of at least the 4.0 score band.

IELTS training is also useful to his learning, especially graduation and university entrance exams, if he fails to have the opportunity to study abroad.

“I will feel more secure having an IELTS certificate as it will open up many learning opportunities for me. Some of my classmates are also attending IELTS courses at some centers,” said Hoang.

Luong Van Hong in Viet Hoa ward, Hai Duong city, learnt about IELTS training as soon as matriculating into Nguyen Van Cu SHS with the desire to have this certificate to satisfy university admission requirements.

She and more than 10 students are studying under a teacher from Ha Noi twice a week at a rate of 200,000 VND/ class.

There are many English language centers organizing training and examination for IELTS certificates in Hai Duong city with increasing numbers of trainees year by year.

More and more students have come to the ILP Center for IELTS training in recent years, said founder Nguyen Thi Phuong Linh.

The center got only nearly 40 trainees when it came into operation in 2018 but regularly has 150 trainees at different levels nowadays. 50 trainees of the center have been granted IELTS certificates.

Trainees of the international education system OCEAN EDU’s Hai Duong city branch can take real tests aside from an IELTS training syllabus to familiarize themselves with the exam structure and time pressure.

“Our center always has 8 – 10 IELTS training classes at different levels. Each class comprises 15 trainees. Many of them are from the districts of Tu Ky, Thanh Mien, Binh Giang…,” said manager Nguyen Thi Lan Anh

Scots English Hai Duong Center is yet to have any official IELTS training class but two supplementary ones for those failing to meet requirements to attend an IELTS training course, said manager Pham Xuan Thong.

They will be helped to overcome their weak points to quickly acquire knowledge and keep pace with the syllabus upon official learning.
