The mergence of Hai Duong College into Hai Duong University was an important event, demonstrating Hai Duong’s strategic vision for the development of education in general and higher education in particular, said Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son.
Son made the remark at a ceremony held by the provincial People’s Committee on June 12 at the Xu Dong Cultural Center to announce the Prime Minister’s decision on the mergence.

The minister suggested that the university seize and quickly take advantage of opportunities and give strategic directions to perfect its diversified structure to meet various demands of both Hai Duong and the whole country.
“After mergence, the university must unite and determine to strongly develop,” said Son.

Thang would like to receive further attention and guidance from the Government, the Ministry of Education and Training, ministries, and central branches to turn Hai Duong University into a key one which will train high-quality human resources for the province and the Red River Delta.
The provincial People’s Committee appointed PhD Ta Thi Thuy Ngan, former Rector of Hai Duong College, as rector of Hai Duong University and PhD Vu Duc Le, former Rector of Hai Duong University (before mergence) as chairman of the Council of Hai Duong University for the 2020 – 2025 tenure.

The mergence was stated in Decision No. 448/QD-TTg signed by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on April 27 on behalf of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
After mergence, the new institution has four campuses, with the headquarters located in the southern urban area of Hai Duong city.
