Hai Duong pupil earns Int’l Chemistry Olympiad slot

Pham Duc Nam Phuong has outstandingly earned a slot in the team to attend the 2021 International Chemistry Olympiad.


Pham Duc Nam Phuong, a 12th grade chemistry pupil of Nguyen Trai Senior High School for Gifted Pupils, has earned a slot in the team to attend the 2021 International Chemistry Olympiad


Teacher Mac Dang Nghi, Vice Principal of Nguyen Trai Senior High School for Gifted Pupils, on April 27 afternoon said that Pham Duc Nam Phuong, a pupil of the school, had outstandingly earned a slot in the team to attend the 2021 International Chemistry Olympiad.

He excellently won the national first prize in chemistry twice in the 2019 – 2020 and 2020 – 2021 academic years.

It's been 10 years since Hai Duong had pupils qualifying for the team.

The 2021 Olympic team selection exam was held from April 1 – 3 at Ha Noi – Amsterdam Senior High School for Gifted Pupils by the Ministry of Education and Training.

191 examinees from 36 provinces and cities across the country took the exam to select 24 pupils for five Olympic teams of maths, physics, chemistry, biology, and informatics.

Five pupils of Nguyen Trai Senior High School for Gifted Pupils were summoned to the exam with two in maths, one in biology, one in chemistry, and one in informatics.

Apart from Nam Phuong who earned the slot to attend the International Chemistry Olympiad, Dao Duy Anh, a 12th grade informatics pupil of the school, is one of 15 Vietnamese contestants of the 2021 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) to be held in Indonesia.

In the 2019 – 2020 and 2020 – 2021 academic years, Duy Anh grabbed second prizes at the national excellent pupil selection exam.

Due to the effect of the Covid-19 epidemic, the 2021 International Olympiad is expected to take place online this July.
