[Video] Thailand dominates men's, women's table tennis team categories at SEA Games 31

Men's team matches of the 31st SEA Games table tennis event between Thailand and Malaysia ended at 9:45 pm on May 15 with a 3-1 victory in favor of Thailand.

Thailand's Padasak and Malaysia's pioneering player Leong Chee Feng fiercely competed in the decisive match and had to play the 5th set.
Padasak lost 9 – 11 and 8 – 11 in the 1st and 3rd sets but won 11 – 7 and 11 – 8 in the 2nd and 4th sets.
The 5th set was one with high-class attacks of two players who were the No.1 hopes of Thailand and Malaysia.
The set ended with a score of 14 – 12 in favor of Padasak, meaning that Thailand snatched the gold medal with a total score of 3 – 2.
In the opening match at 7:30 pm, Thailand's Phakpoom lost 1 – 3 to Leong Chee Feng with 11 – 7, 8 – 11, 8 – 11, and 5 – 11 scores.

In the 2nd match, Padasak defeated Wong Qi Shen 11 – 8, 11 – 6, and 11 – 4.
In the 3rd match, Thailand's Sarayut played Malaysia's Choong Javen and repeated the absolute victory with 12 – 10, 11 – 4, and 11 – 7 scores.
In the final of the women's team category on the afternoon of the same day, Thai players were also crowned champions with a 3 – 0 victory over Singaporean players.
Thus, surpassing highly rated Singaporean rivals, Thai players secured all gold medals in men's and women's team categories.
Shortly after the finals, the organizers awarded first, second, and third prizes. Aside from the gold medals for Thailand, the men's team silver went to Malaysia, the women's team silver to Singapore, women's team bronzes to Vietnam and Malaysia, and men's team bronzes to Vietnam and Singapore.

The 31st SEA Games table tennis event kicked off on May 13 in Hai Duong with men's team, women's team, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles categories.
By May 15, 56 men's team, women's team, men's doubles, and women's doubles matches had took place with 52 matches in men's and women's team categories (including two finals on the afternoon and evening of May 15).
Cambodia was the only team that did not win any of 40 qualifying men's and women's team matches.
Four mixed doubles matches took place on May 14 evening and May 15 morning.
Matches are suspended today (May 16) for players to recover and will resume on May 17.
Apart from the host Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Cambodia have also competed in all of the above categories.
Laos joined the table tennis event on May 15 in women's doubles, women's singles, and men's singles categories.
